Hi all, I am playing with my OpenScan classic (Pi 4B + Pi Camera + Ringlight) since a few days now (thanks Thomas for this fun project). Here is an early shot of my first attempts. I use Meshroom as my photogrammetry software, and of course, as all beginners, I got very mixed results at start. I'm now getting a few decent scans (original on left, scanned and 3d printed on the right)... ...but I feel there is still room for improvement : for example, my scanned benchy is not as clean as Thomas' experiments so far, and this is my actual best shot: Here are a few questions to help me with theses topics: 1) do you use (or recommend) any specific light rig in order to supplement the ringlight of the pi camera? I used up to three or four soft desk lamps aroung the OpenScan but it did not really helped much, their lights being "covered" by the ringlight one. I also built a photobooth but I finally dismantled it (only keeping the black background which helped tremendously). 2) what do you use for your model prep in order to account their transparency and/or glossyness? I spot this spray can: https://www.3djake.com/aesub/blue-scanning-spray but as it is quite expensive, I'd like your feeback before ordering (please note that I want my original models retuned to initial state after scanning, so permanent paint is not on my list). Is a perfect matte surface enough to get good scanned results, or should the paint be pickled in order to provide details to be tracked by the photogrammetry software? 3) if permanent marking is not avoidable, what do you use, and why? 4) any collection of hints and tips for a beginner in 3d scanning with a functional setup and a few successes? I saw, read and watched a lot of tutorials and howto about photogrammetry, but apart from the same basic recommandations, no real solid showcase of the do's and don't's with practical advices. Many thanks to all for your feedback.
